The Importance of having Plan B

Sometimes things don’t go as we planned – this has certainly been the case working with the structural engineers and architect helping to renovate my son’s new apartment! But, at these difficult moments we have to remember that we still have choices; we can say to ourselves “that’s it, my plan hasn’t worked” and stay fixed and depressed. Or we can take a more positive route and say “Plan A didn’t work but may be there’s another option”. My personal experience has told me more than once that often this second plan works out better than the first. So, it’s all about having the ability to distance oneself and keep or regain some objectivity. This makes me think about the dilemma of Shakespearean heroes and anti-heroes – but more of that another day. For now, I need to speak to the architect about Plan B!
